This is a how to question. My gg grandparent, Johann FRANK and Elizabeth SACHS arrived in the New York on 14 May 1852 on the same ship, ³Barque Atala². They lived out their life in Galion Ohio after being married in Newark New Jersey on 16 Oct 1853. The ship upon which they arrived was Irish and came from Liverpool. They did not make the trip on this ship from Germany. Is it possible to find the ship upon which they made the first voyage? It was all in the same year as there was no long term layover in England. In all of Elizabeth (b: 17 Dec 1833) and her family¹s information, they all came from Lindenfels, Hesse Darmstadt. This is where the family claimed to have lived. Six of the family came at one time. Father was Valentine SACHS who died before 1852 and mother was Margaret SCHMITT who took five children (2 girls and 3 boys) to the US. SACHS was protestant and SCHMITT was catholic. Does anyone know if there are family registry sheets for this area? Johann Frank, had no relatives in the US and left no indication as to where he was from other than to always state in the census that he was from Hesse Darmstadt. Nothing in the knowledge of the children, nothing in the naturalization papers or intent papers, no will, etc. There is no indication that he was from the same area, only that he came on the same boat. IGI does not have a Johann close to the birth dates known which vary by a month in different papers, 1 Mar to 18 Apr 1827. What is possibility of locating the home of Johann? Any suggestions on how to proceed? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Jay -- Jay E. Frank
