Can someone tell me if there is any significance to the use of "Herr" in church records in Hesse in the 17th Century. I'm looking at 17th century confirmation records. The pastor didn't use the term in every entry. I looked for a pattern (deceased fathers, etc.), but there doesn't seem to be any consistency. Any insight will be appreciated.
