I have numerous family members named Caspar, Balthaser and Melchoir, None had nicknames or Americanized equivalants and I have never heard of any . All of my said ancestors were named Johann at birth until they received their Christian name at baptism , afterwhich they were always known as Caspar, Melchoir or Balthaser. C L WEIDEMEYER
