We have now a scholar who looks at the scribbles in our 1851 church record and says the last name is VOLMERIN. Elsewhere it is suggested that Elisabeth VOLMERIEN may have - not proven -come from Dillenburg, Dutch of Nassau, Germany. Has anyone seen this name in Philadelphia or Nassau? In the early to mid 1800's. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The above refers to the marriage of Michael Egolf and Elizabeth Volmerin - in their home - as recorded in the records of Philadelphia's St Michael's October 14, 1751.
Hal, her name was in fact Volmer (or Vollmer). the "in" or "ien" was just added to her last name to indicate a female. Heinz
