    3. Hello, I just subsribed yesterday to this mailing list and am hoping to hear from the experts the best way(s) to go about finding birth records in Hesse-Darmstadt for my GGgrandparents listed below: 1) Wilhelmine Paar. She was born in Hesse-Darmstadt on the 5th of May 1845. I have no clue who were her parents and there is nothing listed for her at the LDS website. I found from "Germans to America, 1850-1874" at Genealogy.com that she she embarked from Bremen on the "New York" and arrived as a "20" yr old in New York on the 13th of May, 1867--there's no further info on her in this online record, except I can say that there were no other Paars on this ship. I have no clue about the names of her parents and there is no marriage or death record for her in New York. 2) Wilhelm Lutz. He was born in Hesse-Darmstadt in 1842 (don't know specific date). His parents were Johan and Barbara Anna Lutz and I think they came to the US in the 1850's, but not sure as there are many Lutz immigrants. I have no marriage record for Wilhelm (changed his name to William) and his obit says nothing about exact birthdate or place. Thanks a bunch in advance for any response! 3. This is information to file away for possible usefulness later: In 1846, the ship, Calleo, sailed from Antwerp to New York, with the following passengers: Elizabeth Lutz, age 41, female Jacob, age 35 Mary, age 18, female Herman, age 3, male GTA, Nov. 1846-July 1847, vo1. 4 They left from the village of Hegnach, which I have been informed is in Wurttemburg. They were passengers on the same ship as my family, who left from that same village, but whom I know to have claimed Hessen-Darmstadt as their place of origin. I have no further information on my Reibold family either, but perhaps tracking Elizabeth and Jacob might lead somewhere. One would not know by looking at the ship record, that the Reibolds were actually from Darmstadt. If the Lutz family came with the Reibolds from the same place, perhaps this would help if that Lutz family were relatives? I know that since my Reibold family had a three month old, I could look at baptism records in that area to see whether there might be more information. I just have not gotten around to it. Paar: http://www.paarplace.com/genealogy/paar/paar.asp?MenuItem=9 " I'd really like to hear from other PAARs out there! ... please contact me at the e-mail address at the end of this page. ..." There are at least two Wilhelmine Paar listed with parents, which might be yours: http://www.paarplace.com/genealogy/paar/germfams.asp?MenuItem=21 it could be an idea to ask Jeffrey, also to add your Lutz-Paar-couple. Good luck, Ralf
