Obviously, the emigrants did whatever they could afford and what was easiest to accomplish. The ports of Le Havre, Rotterdam, Bremen, and Hamburg were the likeliest choices. Yes, there are a number of published sources for emigration information for Hesse. If you check out the information on the Hesse website you'll find the references to these sources. I've also mentioned them a number of times on this list, so they're in the archives for this list. You could also Google for "Auswanderungen". That should get some hits. Dona Ritchie
