Dear George, My husband's ancestor was Friedrich HALLSTEIN and he was born in Hoechst not Bad Koenig. He left Germany in the early 1850's and settled in Little Germany area of Manhattan. He was a baker probably bread according to what the family tells me. His wife survived him by several years and she died in New Jersey. Unfortunately, I have not found their marriage in Manhattan, but I located most of their children's births and marriages in the vital records. Friedrich's father left his family in Germany.
