Starkenburg is not a town, it is a region. Hesse-Darmstadt had three provinces; Oberhessen, north of the Main River. Rhinehessen west of the Rhine River and Starkenburg, east of the Rhine and south of the Main including the capital of Darmstadt. This link will help you with Hesse-Darmstadt http://24.1911encyclopedia.org/H/HE/HESSE_DARMSTADT.htm Note: there was no Sarkenburg in Hesse-Kassel! I have an article about Hesse Darmstadt in the period after the Napoleonic Wars, that gives a detailed description of each of these provinces and contains a map illustrating their location. I will be glad to send it as a zip file upon request.
