    3. Hello Listers, I am researching Reiffenberg(er) from Flammersbach Haiger and Kuhn from Huetengesaess. Individuals from those families who are in my direct line emigrated in the early 1700s and settled along the Hudson River in New York. I would be particularly interested in hearing from descendants in those lineages who might still be living in or near the ancestral towns. Jackie Reiss

    3. Jackie, Are you aware that a large number of the Germans who were sent by the English Crown to work in the Hudson Valley in early 1700s got tired of the servitude foisted upon them by the English and they moved to the region of Schoharie NY. One of the towns they established there was first called Weisersdorf and is now called Newburgh. Many of these Germans moved again by floating on rafts down the Susquehanna River. At the confluence with the Swatara Creek (now in Dauphin Co.) they travelled upstream and resettled in the Tulpehocken Valley, just west of Reading PA. I have several ancestral families who participated in these moves, most notably the Weisers and Fecks (Fegs), whose descendants still live in the area around Womelsdorf, Berks Co. If you have lost the trail of the Germans you seek in the Hudson Valley, perhaps you can pick up their trail by jumping to the area of Schoharie NY, or even a generation later around Womelsdorf and Reading PA.
