When my Great-Grandfather did his Genealogy in the 1950s, he included some background on his wife's family that seems to extend into Germany. His Mother-in-Law was Elizabeth BOSS b. Sept. 30, 1847 in Kirchhain(I hope I have the right list). He stated that Elizabeth's parents were Frederick Boss and Charlotte Eibacher, and that Frederick and Charlotte and Frederick had two other daughters, Charlotte and Katherina. Katherina reportedly married a William Detner, with whom Elizabeth lived with after her Father died. The family lore has it that Elizabeth was quite unhappy living with the Detners, and came to New York. She married John George Woehrlin 1877 in New York, and had 4 children including my Great-Grandmother Louise Elizabeth Woehrlin. I have lost my link to the generous souls who do translations for folk. Would anyone have it handy. I recently bought a book on E-Bay about the history of Nieder-Roden and can find heaps of references to my grandfathers family via the names but need more of a hand with the text as there are some words I do not understand.
