Thank you Heinz for the information that you posted re German dialect ... Not being sure what cousin ment about speaking a German dialect different from the solid German spoken....hence my asking list what it could mean. Knowing that there are many different German dialects spoken in Germany clears this up for me. Why was I so stupid to think that everyone spoke the same German <G....[even my English ancestors spoke different dialects of English in England...was told you could have a problem understanding what they were saying if you didn't come from the same area...] wasn't thinking I guess... Oberlengsfeld is the correct name of the village that my Grandmother's parents came from in Germany. It is a small rural community located southwest of the city Hersfeld. I understand there are around 400 people that live in the village at this time. She told me that the village is located ...... It is a small village in the town of Shenklengsfeld pronounced phonetically: Shank - Lanks - Feld. She also told me that she knew where the church was located also .....church is in Bad Hagersfeld. Sorry to be lost in Germany and its many dialects....will wait for her to come home in July to understand things more fully Thank you again SLC No attachments with this message unless stated by the sender.
