Hello, Can anyone help me find out where the village of Goetzel is? I believe it is in Hesse Darmstadt near Weinheim. Peter Kohl came from Goetzel, and I have letters from his children that have been translated and passed down to me. The translator said that it was probably absorbed by Weinheim, but I'd like to be sure...and since Goetzel was in Hesse Darmstadt and Weinheim was in Baden, I'm not quite sure where to start my research. Other clues from the letters: "I don't know if you remember where Kunzenbach is situated. It is above Goreheim, a hundred steps from the street above the valley between our place (Goetzel) and Weinheim." Any help is appreciated! Using the Jewish Shetl Seeker http://www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm I found a Kunzenbach located 2.5 mi ESE of Weinheim at 49.32, 8.43. It is near a Gorxheim and there is a Lohrbach to the east. Looks like they might have used a church in Birkenau or Weinheim, both about equal distance. I have 2 films out for Evangelical churches in Weinheim and I can check for Kohls next time I go over to the FHC. Do you know of they were Protestant?
