Dear List, Did the town of Schluechtern have a teacher's school in the 1850s? Schleuchtern is located between Fulda and Frankfurt. According to an 1899 obituary, My gggrandfather HERBENER (of Marburg area) attended a teacher-training school ("Lehrerseminar") in "Schlichtern". I have not found a "Schlichtern" on any maps, so was thinking perhaps this is an American misspelling of "Schuechtern"?
