Hi, Can someone help with the meaning of "Chyrurgi" (taken from a Catholic Baptism record 1812, in Ober Abtsteinach)? I think it means surgeon. Can anyone tell me what that would mean in 1812--is it a high level profession? Would there be any special records I could look for related to a surgeon?
