I have been working on the ROVER branch of my tree and wanted to post here so that if anyone was connected, they could contact me. There were 6 surviving ROVER sons, born from about 1860 - until the late 1870's. They were Friedrich, Nikolaus, Hinrich, Johann Heinrich, Diedrich, and Martin. The 3 eldest remained in Germany and the 3 youngest emigrated to America to the New York city area, one by one, starting in the mid 1880's. I do not know if there were any others who preceded them as the first set sail for America at age 16, alone without family. I have found a record of a Hermann ROVER from Kuhstedt who came to America earlier than john, but so far I do not know anything about him. I have established contact with some relatives in Germany that arte descendants of the 3 remaining brothers, I am glad to say, but have not as yet delved into German records.
