On January 13, 1913, Margaret Elizabeth Scholl Hood, generous benefactor of Hood College, died in Baltimore. On January 13, 1971, the retirement of John (Happy Johnny) Zufall as the morning show host on radio station WFMD was announced, bringing to a close an era in local broadcasting.
