I have just subscribed to this list and am looking for help in locating two of the families of my German ancestors. 1. Emilie M. ZIESSE left Hessen-Kassel in 1853 for New York and Massachusetts, USA. She was born in Germany (Hessen-Kassel) 15 January 1839 and her parents were Adam ZIESSE and Louise. The above information comes from USA Census records and the parents information comes from her Death Certificate. I have unverified information that her father's name was John Adam ZIESSE and her mother's name was Mary Laursen Obeman, both born in Hessen-Kassel (dates unknown). 2. Henry LEBER and wife Catherine (obviously Americanized first names). Census records for both have them as being from "Prussia". These records also would estimate the birth of Henry as c. 1790 and Catherine as c. 1795. I first find reference to them in Essex County, New Jersey, USA in 1820 as married. I have no information if they were married before or after they immigrated to the USA. I would appreciate any and all information as to how I can locate additional information on these two families.
