Kuhnhenn is a rare name with a significant concentration on today's county of Waldeck-Frankenberg. There is hardly any doubt your family comes from there. Originally the principality of Waldeck was independant from Hessen and at that period had their own archives. In the meantime most files went to the closest archive which is in Marburg. Check HADIS you should find some more information there. Also try the search function (Suche). For me it yielded 8 hits for "Kuhnhenn" for instance, 3 of which in the city of Lichtenfels. The oldest document I found on Kuhnhenn dates from 1527.
