    3. Hi Listers, I must have been one of those folk who sent or replied to the wrong source, sorry. Anyway, I'm looking for the birthplace of Philip RIEHL and/or Mary SCHAEFER both born about 1854 in Hesse-Darmstadt. This is the location listed in both the census data and the LDS files. Looking for help with a single word -> Rüsse The text is as follows: "where fresh "Rüsse", raisens, figs, dates, sweets and toys in great and good selection are to be had at prices suited to every pocketbook." Translation comes up as "dirt", "grime", "lampblack", etc Suggestion is "Russets" but ad appeared in December 1889. Must be some other type of evaporated fruit. JK
