The great grandfather Ambrosius Traud was born in Herbstein. I would appreciate information regarding birth dates and parent names for Joannes Traud and Maria Catharina Hoffmann. Traud and Hoffmann married 15 Feb 1763 and are the grandparents of Ambrosius. Thank you for your any help that can be offered. Ober Erlenbach, Freidberg, Groshertzog(ten) Hessen-Darmstadt Groshertzog, although not correctly written here or above, mean "Grand Duchy". You can add Germany on the end, but it's not really proper. I do it. Properly if you want to be entirely correct you could add "The German Nation of The Holy Roman Empire". I just use Germany for shorthand, but be prepared to have people tell you there was no "Germany" prior to such and such a date. ;') Both of these places have church records filmed by the Mormons. you can rent the films from special libraries or from Mormon centers in your area. Ober Erlenbach isn't very far (~13 mi/27km) from where my Hessian family comes from. You can go here to find places near you: https://library.familysearch.org/ HTH, Brian On Wed, January 26, 2011 2:35 pm, Coleen Thomas wrote: > aJ. Looks like some of the Bietsch family still lives in the area. Go to a German phonebook online and look in the Frankfurt am Main area. You may get lucky and connect with a cousin.
