I think she may be the Maria STUMPF who came with Carl STUMPF to Queensland, Australia on 'Helene' from Hamburg arrived 28 March 1856 in Moreton Bay, Queensland . The records have FRAU beside her name. That doesn't necessarily mean 'wife' does it? If so they may have lied to stay together on the ship. They married in Brisbane, Qld, AUS in 1857. Regards Judy

Carol, sounds very much like an American version of "Hanau's Land", which would be the city of Hanau or its surroundings. Heinz
