Does anyone know if there is a listing of early ministers in the Reform and Lutheran churches in Germany going back to the 1800's? Barbara
Would anyone know of genealogies specifically related to glassmaking families in Hessen in the 1600's, such as Kunkel/Kunckel and Gundelach/Gondelach? I understand there was a lot of intermarrying and so forth. Also, when forest glass (waldglas) was made, they had to travel around a lot. thank you, janet Janet Reinhold, Editor Kunkel/Conkle/Gunkel 'Spindle' Genealogy Newsletter PO Box 4001, Covina CA 91723 kunkel@futurepkg.com

Hello! I am a new member, researching the surname of BERGHAUS. I have a Nicolas Berghaus who came to Nova Scotia on the ship "Sally" in 1752. He was listed as a farmer, age 36, from Darmstadt. He had a wife Gertraud but I do not know if they were married in Germany or in Nova Scotia. Would anyone have any info on this couple or know how I could go about finding a marriage record and or a record of birth for either or both? His father was perhaps Johannes Berghaus and his mother ___ Sepia. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Pat Marshall Ontario, Canada

Should there be an other one? Trying Stark and Büdesheim you get some results as http://tinyurl.com/ysgye , mainly Bingen area which may include nearby Erbes-Büdesheim in former state Hessen Darmstadt, not too far away Frankfurt/Main, thus you might have a look at http://tinyurl.com/2lfk2 . I think Starck and Stark are spelling variants of the same name. Greetings, Ralf

Just type the city in the search box and hit search, for example, the people looking for Gross Zimmern. I entered Gross Zimmern and the city has a web site. Also enter the city and a space and then your family name - I can usually find something. johnwpfaff@yahoo.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! I want to thank this list for all the help. You are all wonderful, I never expected such a response. It appears that at least some of my search might be somewhat easier than I first thought. Thanks again.
The spelling is Gross Zimmern and the FHL has church records on microfilm four you to view at a Family History Center near you. Catholic records 1718-1876 and Lutheran 1640-1876. This town is about 5 miles east of Darmstadt. Sue Foster Co-Director FHC Puyallup Washington South Stake
Gross-Zimmern (or correctly Groß-Zimmern) is just about 6 miles from my place. I.E. east of the City of Darmstadt.
