    2. Carrol
    3. Thank you David for posting this site. It is going to be very helpful for many people who do research. And like you said there are enough English words to make understanding it easy. Thanks again I am going to save this site for future use. Carrol in Michigan -----Original Message----- From: David Rorer [mailto:drorer@fuse.net] Sent: Sunday, June 13, 2004 10:26 PM To: HESSE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [HESSE] Maps of Germany There has been a lot of interest in my article and map. A very good source of accurate historical maps will be found at the website below. http://www.ieg-maps.uni-mainz.de/enter.htm The site is in German, however, very basic German and not hard to follow. If you click on the link under the map displayed it will open up a larger image. The adobe acrobat icon will download a map in that format. All the images can be downloaded to your computer. I recommend printing them on card stock with a color printer, they are quite nice that way. The site is maintained by the University of Mainz and new maps are added periodically. If you cannot find exactly what you are looking for keep going back. I recommend to all that you bookmark the site and pass this information on to whatever other newsgroups you belong to. 3. As Martin Luther and his wife had at least three sons and two daughters he did leave descendants. By doing a Goggle or Rootsweb search on his name you will most likely find genealogies that contain those descendants. Though it is possible that by "descendant" what is meant is that he was a follower of Luther. BTW the Prussian Province of Hesse-Nassau did not come into existence until 1866. To be absolutely correct you need to search back through historical maps to find in what state Frankenburg was in 1688!
