Hope you're still active on Ancestry. My mother was Dorothy Henthorn(e), daughter of George W. Henthorn(e), he was the son of Nathaniel Henthorn and Nancy Glover. The (e) was added to the end of George's name by mistake when he worked at Alcoa Aluminum, in Bauxite, AR. Nathaniel Henthorne and nancy Glover are my great grandparents. I was at Nancy's grave in October at the Bauxite Cemetery. George had 12 children and only one (my Aunt Audrey) is still alive. She's in her 80's. There are still several Henthorne's in the Bauxite/Benton Arkansas area. I live in Colorado. I'm not having any luck looking up family earlier than William Henthorn III. You said your mother was Leavis Henthorne Morris, Dauther of Samuel Henthorn, the son of Nathaniel Henthorn and Nancy Glover. My mother was Dorothy Henthorne, daughter of George Washington Henthone (Samuel Henthorn's brother) and grand-daughter of Nathaniel Henthorn and Nancy Glover. In fact I was at Nancy's gravesite this last October in Bauxite, AR. I have a wonderful family picture with Elizabeth Ellen (Ella) Henthorn and Nathaniel, Nancy and Samuel. The (e) on the end of George W. Henthorne's name was put there by mistake when he worked as a young man at Alcoa Aluminum mines in Bauxite,AR. They just left it and continued to spell it Henthorne, Tina Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [HENTHORN] Henthorn family of County Cavan (1700s-1800s)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: ddimmock_1 Surnames: Henthorn Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.henthorn/231/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am trying to find more about my Henthorn family. My great-grandmother was Anne Henthorn (1843-1899) daughter of James Henthorn (1798-) and Sara (I have no maiden name or dates). Anne married my great-grandfather Robert Roseman (1830-1890) in 1870 in Ashfield Parish. They had 9 children. James Henthorn was the son of George & Rebecca Henthorn (I don't have any dates here). They all apparently were in the Co Cavan area; I do find Tithe Allotment records in 1832-1844; they may have been peat farmers. I find other children of George & Rebecca (siblings of James) - James (1798-), George (1800-), Ann (1803-), Rebecca (1804-), Ann (1813-) and Elizabeth (1816-). If anyone can tell me more about this family, I would love to know more. There are lots of Henthorn's in ancestry but I have no way of knowing who is connected to who! Thank you! I just sent my DNA test back last Friday. There's a couple of old stories that I should be able to resolve. Just finished my volunteer shift at Genealogy Society. I have a ghost chaser that always needs info on the paranormal events she researches. Usually someone who died a terrible death. Keeps me interested. We frequently get people who want to know if someone died in their house because they think they have ghosts. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: CharLB911 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.henthorn/230.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Steve, it was very nice of you to check and for sure I agree there is a lot of confusion about who married whom. And keeping children straight is another challenge. But the challenge itself is the fun of all this. If someone were to give me a total complete tree it would not be nearly as interesting as it has been researching through Ancestry. I agree that it is great mental stimulation even for those who haven't had a stroke. Nothing against people who play online games, but I find this method of challenging my mind much more productive. I love being able to share what I have found with family and friends and with others on Ancestry. I don't usually ask for assistance unless it is a direct ancestor that has me stumped. I try to find the info myself. Then I look at other trees on Ancestry. I try hard not to just take what they have without looking for some info to verify it, especially if it's a direct relative. I don't know if you took the dna test but if you did then likely you are on my husbands list. He took just the basic one here on Ancestry. I have found at least 12 people who have very detailed trees as is mine that have shown a shared great ancestor. Makes us for the fact that I haven't been able to find any connections on my own dna list. Thanks again all, Char Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My information agrees with yours. *I think I have a slightly different DOB for one of the daughters. I am a descendant of John W Henthorn, brother to Elizabeth and Ann. It's hard to weed through all the Watson family information on ancestry. Many have multiple spouses and it's hard to find any substantive information to nail down marriages. I've been volunteering here for almost two years now. It's like taking my brain to the YMCA for a workout on Wednesday. Really sharpens my research skills. I took classes a few years back and they've been after me to volunteer. I'm disabled by a stroke 6 years ago and now retired, so this keeps me and more important, my brain busy. Still working on your question. I'll let you know if I find anything. stevencarlson43@yahoo.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. It was really short and I didn't feel it was enough to convince me, but your link to his other source really does. I need to go to his tree and see what other great things he has about the family. Here is the one I found earlier. http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/41795946/person/20291630477/media/1?pgnum=1&pg=0&pgpl=pid|pgNum I appreciate the help. I had asked someone about their tree, which had George married to Ann. I was told that I should get the proof before I questioned someone else's tree. In this specific case he was someone who showed up in my husband dna match list. Otherwise I would never have suggested one of us had it wrong. Author: CharLB911 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.henthorn/230.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Gemto, that is very helpful. Just seeing something old in print that identifies family members is what I feel qualifies as proof. I figured there was likely something like a will out there but didn't have luck finding it. I probably didn't have my search parameters set correctly. I try not to post on a message board unless I feel like I really did try to find it on my own. On the other hand I don't want to drive myself nuts searching when someone else already drove themselves nuts. And, I definitely know what you mean about discovering a mix up months after entering something into my tree. I try to remember to double check entries when they come from someone else's tree, but I opening admit sometimes I forget. Sometimes they are so obvious I can't believe I added it, like when people have children in their tree that were born before they were. Others are just because of all the confusion about names. I never realized how many men with a mother and sister named Mary, then go on to marry someone named Mary, have a daughter named Mary, and several daughter-in-laws named Mary. Then their wife dies and they either marry another Mary, or they marry the sister of their first wife. Char Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have some housecleaning to do! But I did a quick search at ancestry, and found under "Public Member Stories" entered by wolff176, the following: -------------- John Watson will. Will dated 31 Mar 1810, proved 21 Mar 1811, Will Book 1, p. 396 German Twp., Fayette Co., PA . He had 325 acres. In the will; 95 acres to James: 50 acres to Rebecca; 80 acres to David; 50 acres to Minty; 5 0 acres to William. His wife, Ann, was also named in the will. From another source: Mentioned in the will are sons; David, James, William, Charles; Ann (the wife of Isaac Jackson); grandsons, John Allison Watson and William Watson; children of Charles, which were, Ann, John and Mary; and Minty the widow of Charles. The will mentions a track Rebekah Watson sold to Adam McCrary (McCray). Witnessed by Moses Allen, Stephen McClean, John McClean. Executor was Jacob Downard. --------------- (source = http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/10066669/person/-687159917/story/77b6582d-cce6-4c9e-bcf3-de33b9d91ff3?src=search) --------- That might help you out. I believe they married two of the Henthorn sisters, daughters of James Henthorn & Mary Higginbotham. As best as I can figure, George married Elizabeth Henthorn b 1750 d 1810, and John married Ann Henthorn, b 1749 d unk. I have seen these relationships and their children combined in a number of interesting ways in the trees of others. I am fairly confident I have the right couples, but I am hoping someone might be able to direct me to any document here on Ancestry that explains clearly which brother married which sister. And which child belongs to which couple? My husband is descended from John Watson b 1765 d 1831 and I want to confirm which are his parents. Also, the only death record I can find that people have been attaching to Ann Henthorn is that of her sister Elizabeth. Does anyone know when she in fact died?
