There are many conflicting stories that I'm finding on the web and throughout this site. All stories seem to point to some Native American connection in the Hensley line, but who for sure, I can't tell. Some trees show Daniel Hensley b.1774 as a brother to Elijah Hensley b. 1793. Some show that they are father and son and it just gets more confusing from there. There are stories about Elijah Hensley's heritage as the son of a native american, but not proof that I can find, although one story states proof can be found in an 1850's census record that I have yet to find. I have been tracing the Hensley line through my husband's Evans/Murphy family. The first Hensley I find is Elizabeth Hensley daughter of Aaron Hensley and Martha Patsy Ball. I have that Aaron Hensley was the son of Elijah Hensley and Mary Polly Giddons. I show Elijah Hensley as th! e son of Daniel Hensley and an unknown Native American. Then the real confusion starts with Daniel's father who seems to be Christopher C.Hensley. Many family trees on this site show that Daniel and Elijah were brothers.
