Hi, Cindy. since I posted the below, I have made a little bit of progress on my Hensley line. I descend from Bird Hensley who I find in Cabell County, VA (now WV) growing up.....then in Clay County, Illinois as a young man with a young family. Then he and his wife move back to Cabell County,VA before the census of 1850. I have adopted Solomon Hensley as a father to Bird. Bird says that he was born in Pittsylvania County, Va when he joins the army. I believe that that is indeed where the family was when Bird was born circa 1810/1811. At this time, I have a Samuel Hensley in my data base as father to Solomon. However I think that this is a guess and very iffy. Here is what I have in the notes:: There is a John Hensley in the 1782 Pittsylvania Land Taxes list: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~vapittsy/1782LandTaxes.htm John is the Only Hensley in Pittsylvania County in 1782. There is also a John Hensley in the 1767 Titheables (and that is the only Hensley that I see) http://adkinsmetcalffamily.wordpress.com/2009/02/28/the-history-of-pittsylvania-county-virginia/ I don’t know where to add the following information from the Lambert Papers March 2011: So if BIrd Hensley was born in Pittsylvania County circa 1810/1811, it is possible that he is a grandson of John Hensley. I need to send this to you because I am shutting my computer down....I had planned on spending more time....please get back in touch if you think that we have anything to discuss. marsha On Aug 22, 2011, at 11:46 AM, Robert Stamps wrote: > Marsha, > I am very interested in tracking this John Henslee Sr. Have you had any luck in finding him? > Cindy Henslee Stamps > > --- On Wed, 9/9/09, marsha moses <mosesm@earthlink.net> wrote: > >> From: marsha moses <mosesm@earthlink.net> >> Subject: [HENSLEY] Pittsylvania County, VA >> To: hensley@rootsweb.com, clan-mackenzie@rootsweb.com >> Cc: mackenzie@rootsweb.com >> Date: Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 4:11 PM >> I am reading through some pages that >> I copied at the Library of >> Virginia on a visit last April. >> >> These pages were taken from a book called >> >> The Book of Estrays Pittsylvania County Virginia 1773-1782 >> by Lucille C.
