    3. Cindy, was the exemption in Pittsylvania County? And the marriage, was it also in Pittsylvania County? Tell me about John Payne Henslee. I'm interested in the Phillips because a Charles Phillips was the bondsman for my John Payne Henslee's wedding, and they named their first child Charles Phillip Henslee. > > Cindy >

    3. Yes, all these were in Pittsylvania Co. I'm interested in this John Sr. in the hopes that he might be the father of Macksfield. I think this John moved down into Pitts. Co. from Hanover/Louisa, Albemarle where Macksfield was earlier. Macksfield moved to Caswell Co. NC, which adjoins Pitts. Co. Macksfield had a son, David, who married Mary Payne. There is a John Payne, who died in Pitts. Co. and left a will naming a daughter, Mary. I can't think of the exact date at this moment; need to check my records. At any rate, I know that I have to put a couple together in the same neighborhood to get them married. So I'm hoping that these adjoining counties might do that. John Payne Henslee was the son of David; he married in Rockingham Co. NC in 1813, which adjoins Caswell. David and his family are in records of both these NC counties before moving to GA. --- On Sun, 8/28/11, marsha moses <mosesm@earthlink.net> wrote: > From: marsha moses <mosesm@earthlink.net> > Subject: [HENSLEY] Pittsylvania County, VA > To: hensley@rootsweb.com > Date: Sunday, August 28, 2011, 11:59 AM > Cindy, was the exemption in > Pittsylvania County?  And the marriage, was it also in > Pittsylvania County?  Tell me about John Payne > Henslee.  Marsha > On Aug 27, 2011, at 8:01 PM, Robert Stamps wrote: > > > Marsha, > > On 18 March 1783, John Hensley asked the court to > exempt him from paying county and public levies; > granted.  This was usually done due to old age.  > > > > There was also an oath of allegiance taken:  John > Henslee Sr. and Jr. signed it; also Jonathan & Tobias > Phillips.  I'm interested in the Phillips because a > Charles Phillips was the bondsman for my John Payne > Henslee's wedding, and they named their first child Charles > Phillip Henslee. > > > > Cindy > > > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to HENSLEY-request@rootsweb.com > with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the > subject and the body of the message >
