Looking for parents of Elizabeth Hensley. She was born in NC and married Samuel Wilson of Burke Co. NC probably in the 1820's. She died 6 Aug 1889 in Macon Co, NC. She and Samuel had many children, the youngest was my ancestor Silas. Samuel probably died in the mid 1860's when Elizabeth moved to Macon with her son Silas. Silas was born in 1851 and died in 1890. In 1819 he applied for and was granted a license to operate a house of entertainment in Leatherwood ( Word passed down that he played Cornet).Records show purchase in 1821 of 392 acres of land on Grassy Creek, just a few miles west of present day Martinsville, VA . 1829 and 1830 records show sales of same land. Henry Co. Census 1820: males 0-10 (3) Males 16-18 (1) males 16-26 (1) males 26-45 (1) Females 0-10 (2) 26-45 (1)Henry Co. Census 1830: Males 10-15 (1) 50+ (1) Females 5-10 (1) 15-20 (1). Nathans wife Jane Priddy evidently died or left between 1820-1830.Nathan in Patrick Co.VA Census 1840: Males 60-70 (1) Females 15-20 (1) 20-30 (1) William McCraw Hensley returned to Halifax Co.married Martha Bomar b. 1800 Halifax Co. on 21 Jul 1821. William and Martha's children born in Halifax co. .First records of Nathan in Henry Co. 1819; William would have been only 15 Years old. At some later date, William McCraw Hensley and family did move to Henry Co.Eliza Jane Hensley, Nathans daughter married Austin Agee in Patrick Co. 31 Jan 1843. Unable to locate or identify any of Nathan's children in 1820 and 1830 Henry Co. census other than William and Eliza Jane.Military service War of 1812: 1st Calvary (Holcombs) VA militia, 30 Aug 1814- 21 Sep 1814. Days in service 23. Pay per month $8.00. Pay for horse 40 cents per day. Total pay $6.13 for Nathan and $9.20 for horse. Total pay $15.33.Co. VA census for 1820 and 1830 lists a Nathan, Lewis and John as heads of households, but to this date I have not been able to determine relationship, if any of these three Hensleys. One tax record seems to indicate Lewis and John paying taxes on same property, which may indicate co-ownership.Nathan was listed with two daughters in Patrick Co.VA census 1840. This is last record of Nathan found at this point.Would love to be able to identify Nathans other children. Hopefully someone out there has traced their ancestors back to Nathan and Jane Priddy. Hi Everyone; I'm looking for the parents of Elizabeth Lee Hensley b. 28/Feb/1906 in Majestic, Pike Co., Ky. She m. John Justice b. 1898. Her parents are said to be Spurgeon 'Doc' Hensley and Lori Ellis (d/o Chap Ellis). Do these names/dates look familiar to anyone?
