The first HENSLEY in my husband's line is his GGrandfather MORGAN HENSLEY, b North Carolina, married MATTIE BAILEY abt 1877 in Mitchell or Yancey County, NC. MORGAN HENSLEY died abt 1890, Mitchell County. Children of MORGAN and MATTIE were EDWARD, CHARLES WESLEY, and PANSY. CHARLES WESLEY HENSLEY, b 11/13/1881, Toecane, Mitchell County, d 2/13/1964, Jackson County, North Carolina, m ARTIE ELVIRA McMAHAN, 11/3/1901 Buncombe Co, NC, b 5/7/1877, Jackson County, d 2/28/1960, Jackson County. Child of CHARLES WESLEY and ARTIE was CHARLES BROWN HENSLEY, b 8/8/1907, Buncombe County, NC, d 3/22/1971, Black Mountain, NC, m IVA EULALIA BARNES, abt 6/1930 in Jackson County, b 6/20/1915, Sylva, NC, d 6/20/1913, Toledo, Ohio. Child of CHARLES BROWN and IVA EULALIA is CHARLES EDWARD HENSLEY, b 2/23/1931, Sylva, NC, m BEVERLY JEAN COOK, 6/26/1954 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI MATTIE BAILEY HENSLEY m 2d a Mr. GAGE? in Mitchell County when CHARLES WESLEY was 11 yrs old. CHARLES WESLEY then went to live with a GRINDSTAFF family in Spruce Pine, Mitchell County where he grew up. Would love to make contact with anyone having knowledge of this family.
