Hi everyone, my 5th great grandmother in my maternal line was Elizabeth Hensley b ca 1766 in VA. She married Jesse Gough. There doesn’t seem to be any records of her parents other than the bondsman for Elizabeth’s marriage was Samuel Hensley. I have done dna testing and have a number of cousin matches who descend from Benjamin Hensley and Martha Ellis and his son Benjamin who married Elizabeth Hickman. I believe Elizabeth was the daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth Hickman. If anyone can help me with this, I will appreciate it. Jesse Gough’s brother Bailey Gough married Dulley Hensley. Some people think that Dulley and Elizabeth were sisters. I think they were cousins. I am interested in learning about the Hensley’s. I would like to know what kind of people they were, what their religious affiliation was, if any, what were their traditions, any stories that are known about them. I know that some of the Hensley’s settled in Harlan Co., KY along with other family such as the Caywood’s, Howards, Christian’s, Wright’s and others. Thanks, Kathleen
