He was born in 1877 and married Jennie Henehan in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, I don't know the date. Together they had 5 children: Patrick, Mary, Anna, Bridget (Betty) and Margaret (or Marguerite). Margaret is the youngest - born around 1920. She died in infancy in an orphanage. Apparently, when Joseph died, Jennie was unable to support the children. (My understanding is that Joseph's parents might have kicked her out after his death.) Jennie eventually got on her feet enough to reclaim the oldest 4...they moved to Chicago some time in the 20s. Hugh Hensley was the s/o Robert Burton Hensley and Mary Herd Hensley from Kentucky. Robert Burton Hensley was the brother of my great grandmother Christine. Hugh Hensley and his wife Bessie Jarvis moved from KY to Nebraska. Robert B. Hensley was the s/o Elizabeth (Betsy Jane) Radford and Thomas Hensley. Thomas Hensley died right after the Civil War. He came home sick from the war and died on Betsy's lap not long after returning home(story passed down)-plus I have his pension papers where Betsy got a pension after his death. Betsy Jane is supposed to be 1/2 Cherokee Indian but I've never been able to prove it--more stories passed down. Betsy was pregnant with my great grandmother when Thomas died. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Barbara BENTON of Weaverville, California. The photograph was taken at the Ramsdell Studio, though no location is indicated on the photograph.
