He and his brother John came to Texas following the Civil War to set up Masonic Lodges in Central Texas. The were from around the Branson MO area. I knew he left two sisters behind in MO but I don't recall a brother...they could have easily been half sisters and brother. My Great Grandmother was Lydia Ann Guest...she told us "she was a little indian" she was 4'8" her "little joke". We were also told she was Cherrokee...our great grandfather also had "some indian" he was exceptionally tall for that time 6'4". My Great Grandfather convenced her(three months pregnant) it would take less than three months to travel the distance from their farm on the MO border through "Indian Terretory" to Temple Texas. My Grandmother (Lonna Bell Henslee Earle) was born on the north side of the Red River in Indian Terrotory. Sounds like family to me...we shell see. Information we do have is that he was born abt 1780 in Virginia, and moved about 1790 or- 2 to 3 years,to Sumner co. Tenn. He is shown in Sumner Co.Tn court minutes "First monday in October: State v Harman Hensly fornication.dft bond, Elisha Oglesby security for maintenance of base begotton child of Betsey Meeklly now pregnant; also paid his fine." Also, he and Charles signed a Petition of 1799 to the House of Representatives petitioning that the Sumner co due to its size, should be divided so that citizens could more easily attend courts, general assemblies, & publick meetings"We have no concluding evidence as t0 the relationship with Charles...father?/brother?..we find Harmon listed in the "1830 Citizens of Texas" by Gifford white...land records, etc...He probablly died, 10Nov 1835 in Columbia, Brazoria, Texas...maybe possibly Washington co Texas as that is where his land was...
