Always put the complete web address. Some people can just click on it because it shows up in blue. I don't have any information on your John but Donald C. Hart did a lot of research leading him to the marriage of Samuel Hensley to Allefer Cooper. She was a twin and the daughter of Levin Cooper and Sarah Wetherby. Look for Hart's file in the LDS Family Center. I got the microfilm and made a copy. He takes the family back to Samuel Hensley of Orange Co., VA. Can you tell me who published the Satterwaite book? I'd like to find a copy. Thomas Richardson "Tom" Hensley [email protected]

The Satterwaite Hensley book is a dud. Try for Donald Hart book it available on microfilm at LDS. I was told to prove three times many people will fill space to fit the puzzle. Happy searching. RBruhn2726

Hi to all! I have been watching with interest your "talks". I am researching this family also, but have only just begun. I recently found "Hensley Family Book" by Mrs. Geraldine Satterwaite, 1979, in our Family History Center. My connection is John Hensley b.1805 Gallatin, Ky to Samuel & Alsafair (Cooper) Hensley. According to Mrs.Satterwaite the line connects back to Samuel Hensley who died in Orange Co., VA abt.1735. The "wall" I am trying to climb is locating information on John Hensley and his wife Amelia Kellums, these are my 5th greatgrandparents. They were married in 27 Sept 1836 in Lawerenceville, IL. I have no information on Amelia Kellums. Is ANYONE researching this family???? Does ANYONE have info on Amelia/her parents???? Deb Schnabel

Hi, try the email address> [email protected] this gentleman sent me alot of information of Chrisley Hensley and family several years ago when I first started researching Hensleys. Unfortunately it was not my Hensley line. Hope this helps. Pat
Hi Sorry, but for some reason I have lost the email address of the Don who has the lengthy history. I made contact with him in perhaps 1994. At that time, I found in the archives of postings via AOL, a family history that almost read like a novel. Most of the detail was in Kentucky but it did have the info I sent on to you. I had printed it out and sent to a cousin who has been chasing our Hensley line for years. She could find no connection between Don and our line but did send back several pieces of information relative to Don's line. I forwarded it to him but have lost the email address. Also put him in contact with another relative of is I spotted in another site. We are stuck with Thomas Hensley born in 1828, married a Nancy Davis in Clark Cty Indiana in 1848. He reportedly said his father was born in Virginia. Our best unproven theory is that he was one of the later of large family of James Hensley who shows up in Jefferson and Oldam County--across from Clark Cty VA. The oldest proven child was John who married in 1834 and the youngest proven was William who married in 1847. One of the proven girls,Lucinda, married a Hicks. There were two other Hensley females (unproven) who married Hicks. Also another unproven son married another Davis. We have been in contact with descendant of Lucinda and other Hicks but still have nothing to prove the theory. Have not been able to track any of the Davis line. Happily, my other lines are more traceable--back to England, Germany and to Switzerland. But this Hensley line stays stuck. If you have any clues, I would appreciate your input. Norm

Seeking information.Which of Chrisley and Catherine Hensleys sons were killed by Indians ??? They were in S.W. Va. Chrisley died before 1800. Does anyone have proof when he died.? Catherine married 2nd Wm Davis.Thanks. [email protected]
Do you know a Don Hensley? I copied a family history that he had posted maybe 4 years ago? He identified a Christley Hensley as his ancestor with no knowledge of spouse other than that she was from Russell County VA. Don's history indicated that in 1773 Christley lived 1 mile above the Clinch River in Montgomery Cty VA. (That would have made him in his 30's if same person as your Chrisley). He indicated that Christley had 9 sons (no knowledge of daughters) including William who married Elizabeth Bruster 1800 in Washington Cty VA. Similarity of names and places suggests you and Don may be searching same line.
