    3. Does anyone know the e-mail address or the RR address of Howard Hensley, who lives near Marshall, AR? Don Hensley of Clinton, AR, Howard told him that he had traced his line ( Lemuel ) to a common accestor with Larkin. I have seen a Bible record of Larkin being the son of Hickman Hensley, but I haven't seen proof of Lemuel being his son. ††† ††† ††† ††† ††† ††† ††† ††† ††† ††† ††† ††† ††† ††† E-Card: http://BVanDyke.eCode.com mailto:[email protected] http://Bob.VanDyke.net

    3. I remain among the many who have hit a wall on Hensley roots in Kentucky and who seek the elusive link to a "James" Hensley. My last proven link is a Thomas Hensley born in Clark Cty KY in 1826. In 1848, he married a Nancy DAVIS in Clark Cty Indiana (no luck chasing the many DAVIS's in Indiana either). Their oldest children were born in Olham Cty, KY. Younger children born in McLean Cty ILL. In 1880 census Thomas indicates that his father (James?) was born in VA around 1787. There is a James in Jefferson Cty in 1830 with an unnamed son born in the right time frame to be Thomas but this is unproven. I think only Frances, John, Lucinda and William are proven children of James but that other children may include George W, Nancy, Nathan, and three other unnamed females. Hoping someone can confirm or support this possible connection between Thomas and James.

    2. Hello Cindy, My William Hensley married Clarissa Malinda Sanders in 1847, Wayne Co., TN. They had 6 children: 5 girls, 1 boy, named Martin Asa after Wm's brother. My direct ancestor was Sally Ann Hensley b. 1850 Hartzugg Twp. Co., ARK who married David Coleman Goats, JR. They lived in Copeland,Van Buren Co., ARK for the remainder of their lives, both bur: Pleasant Grove Cem., nr. Alread. I am very sure that my Hensley's are related closely to the other Hensley families, but just haven't been able to make a proven connection and no one else has either!! Wm & Clarissa's first child was named Elizabeth Lurana, which to me means if they followed the naming pattern, as we know that Clarissa's mother was name Lurana, then Wm's mother must have been an Elizabeth. Sally was their second child. Sally & David's first child (my great grandmother) was named Mary Malinda Adeline, still following the pattern, tho somewhat altered. From thereon the naming pattern does not occur. I hope this helps a little more! Any ideas? Thanks, Kathy Gregory [email protected]

    3. Karen, I posted a message a couple of days ago. I'm searching for my Hensleys in Van Buren, Ark. Maybe we have a connection. My gr-grandmother's death certificate states her father's name as J.W. Hensley; however, my mother always knew his name to be William Jackson Hensley. Date of birth would be around 1845 to 1850. He married Salina Jane Murcer. Maybe a son of your William? Any hope here? 2. Have we collected migration stories and records of individual NC or VA Hensley families, and followed them to a particular "gathering" area, such as Wayne Co., TN? If you had a virtual map or regular map, you could "plot" where a particular group congregated at a particular time period. I think this is an interesting idea of doing a "Roll-Call", maybe it would help all of us sort out just what "tribe" of Hensleys we belong to. I know that I am "stuck" in Wayne Co., TN with my William Hensley b. 1830 there, later went to Searcy & Van Buren co., ARK, fought in the Civil War (CSA), but have not been able to confirm or prove his parentage. I know his siblings names, yet that hasn't been a big help either. Jane b.1815 (m. Jacob Arnhart), John b. Feb 1820 (m. Permelia), Nancy b. ca 1822 (m. John S. 3. Sorry, I forgot to include locations. The Hensley clan I'm looking for came from somewhere in NC and settled in Harlan Co., KY. Samuel Hensley and Serelda Napier were born in Harlan Co., and Serelda raised the family there after Samuel died. Their marriage record indicates that Samuel's father was born in NC. Their son Andrew J. Hensley later moved from Harlan Co. to Knox Co., KY. The other Samuel L. Hensley (1804) and wife Martha (1814) that I have were born in NC and moved to Harlan Co. Thanks. 2. My Henslee/Hensley line are from Caswell County North Carolina. They migrated to Webster and Greene County Missouri. My grandfathers name was Zara Henslee. Zara was married to a Hepsabeth Cox. My fathers name was Charles A. Henslee (changed the spelling to Hensley) He was born in Springfield Missouri in 1880. He was married to a Julia ? and had one child named Mabel in the Webster County Missouri 1900 Census. This was his first wife before he married my Mother and I know he had 4 daughters and possibly a son by this marriage. He wasn't listed in the 1910 Census in Missouri. Thinking maybe he might have moved to Ohio. If any of this information is familar to anyone searching the Henslee/Hensley name...E/mail me. Millie Hensley

    3. Linda, I like your web page -- especially that you gave the hard data (censuses even with their "wrong" ages) so that we can evaluate the data. (I am filing this idea in the back of my mind for when I get my page up.) Just thinking now: it would be good to add the census page etc. information so that we'd have a source and could easily find it ourselves. Good hunting, Lynne Hundley (my Hensleys are a mystery: Sarah Ann came from nowhere to marry my Henry C. Snyder who knows where -- they later lived in Botetourt Co., VA. I have seen no other mention of her family anywhere in their affairs. There are two in1850 census who are the right age. How to tell which is mine. 3. I would like to create a more specific and defined "roll-call", that would allow us to better focus on geographic location, and not just name similarity. I am kind of foggy as to where I am going with this, but I feel if all the (example) "Tennessee Hensley's"were identified as a group, we could look at our "distribution" throughout the state, by date and migratory pattern, and become a "study" sub-group. I know, at this time, I have more ties with the Central Tennessee Hensley's, but I'm not sure how to best identify them in a general roll-call, clump-of-names, format! I want to research my ancestor, Charles' birthplace, somewhere in N.C., but not until I have done all my homework in White Co. Tn.! Does this make ANY sence to anyone else? Maybe someone has a better idea. Some genealogists have their father as William A. "Black Bill" Hensley but he was born in 1798 which would make him only 13 years old when Banister was born. I would very much appreciate anyone's help on this. Below is my direct Hensley line. I have much more to share if your interested. Would also appreciate any info you may have on my line.
