    3. Wow, Leona, That helps a lot. The first paragraph is my lineage. the others may be but that will take a little research. 3. Hope this will help. Sorry, don't know the source, but it may give you a place to start. If someone knows the source, please let me know. Lee A Reverend Hensley's son married to Mary(Green?) and that their daughter Emma Green Hensley died in Covington KY in 1919. Were these Hensleys originally from Covington? My biological father, David Hensley (who I'm trying to trace) was born in Covington in May 23, 1911...son of Edmund Wesley Hensley and Stella (Robinson) Hensley Another HENSLEY line with a minister: Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Franklin Co. EDWARD HENSLEY a native of Frankfort, was born February 5, 1832, and is a son of Benjamin and Prudence (Culbertson) Hensley, who were born at Culpeper C.H., Va., and Chambersburg, Penn., respectively. His grandfather, Hensley, was probably born in England, and on his mother's side he is of Scotch origin. His father came from Virginia to Frankfort about the year 1800, and for many years engaged in the mercantile business, and in an early day did flatboating between Frankfort and New Orleans, trading with the Indiana at Shawneetown, Ill., and other points, afterward engaging in the manufacture of bagging and rope goods. He was born in 1790 and died in 1859. He had twelve children--three daughters and nine sons--of whom six sons served in the Mexican war, and all of whom are now dead. The three daughters: Maria, Elizabeth and Laura are all living and married. They are women of unusual brilliancy, distinguished for their extensive reading and fine conversational powers. Edward Hensley was reared and educated in Frankfort, and received his knowledge of the sciences under the celebrated teacher, B. B. Sayre. March 23, 1859, he married Miss Mary D. Welch, a daughter of the eminent civil engineer, Sylvester Welch, deceased, under whom Roebling, who superintended the construction of the famous New York and Brooklyn bridge was a pupil in civil engineering. Mr. Hensley has three children: Rev. A. C. Hensley, assistant rector in Grace (Episcopal) Church, and chaplin of St. Luke's Hospital, Chicago; Arabella, wife of Lieut. C. E. Colaham in the United States Navy, and now a professor in the naval school at Annapolis, and Edward. Mr. Hensley has been a leading fire insurance man for twenty years in Frankfort, and six or seven years in the mercantile business. In 1880, under Gen. Fayette Hewitt, he became first bookkeeper in the State auditor's office. This position he still holds, and his insurance business is looked after by an assistant and his son. Mr. Hensley is one of the progressive and substantial business men of Frankfort, and he has countless friends. He is a member of the Episcopal Church, and attained the Knight Templar degree in Masonry about fifteen years ago. Ronald Edwards wrote: > Hello. I, too, am working on Hensleys. 3. Hi Debbie, I am trying to determine a Hensley/Fann/Aldridge connection. My ggfather was William Aldridge (1846-1921). His first wife was Mary Hensley (1852-1897). I can only find a marriage record for William to Mary Fann...I wonder if Mary married a Hensley or a Fann before she married William? They lived in Greene Co., TN. Have you ever seen FAIN spelled like FANN? Thanks, Kelley

    3. Debbie, Saw you researching line and I too am researching a Rinehart line. Here is what I know on mine?? Any connections: Louisa Jane Rinehart married Andrew Jackson Moody at Peru, Howard Co., Ks (Howard was later changed to two counties, now, Elk & Chautauqua County) Thier marraige lis was found in Chautaqua Co. they married August 3, 1872. Louisa died at 104 years and is buried in Humbolt, Ks. It is felt that she was most likely born in Indiana and came to Kansas with family and settled or came to Kansas as a young girl to visit relatives when she met Andrew. My uncle felt they found her in a census in Indiana as a young girl staying with another family. They also have some unconfirmed info that her father died when she was very young and that her mother died after that sometime. I will find the specifics with names on the above if none of this fits as of yet. Please let me know?? Thanks, Deb P>S> I too come through the hensley line. I don't have anything on your lines though! Sorry!?!?! -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [SMTP:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, July 20, 2000 3:42 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [HENSLEY-L] Introduction Hello Everyone, I would like to introduce myself. As I have learned, there just isn't much information out there for this family. I don't know if there is little documentation or it's out there hiding somewhere I haven't been able to find. I would like to correspond with anyone who is researching or knows anything about this line.
