How exciting to see all the Henry interest on the web. I, too, have a Robert Henry here in NC history. My gggrandfather, Robert L. Henry was born in Hyde Co.NC on Sept. 26, l8l6. He moved to Goose Creek Island (Beaufort Co. ...now Pamlico) with his father Israel Henry (b. Apr. l784) and his mother Sarah "Sally" Hopkins, around l836. They were in the l840 census of Goose Creek Island. It is assumed, but I can not find proof, that Israel's father was Samuel Henry (born before l755 as he was over 45 in the l800 census) who appeared briefly on Goose Creek Island in l800. If so, Samuel was the son of Robert Henry who first appeared on record as a member of the Hyde Co. Militia in l755 along with a Hugh Henry (brother or son?) The elder Robert Henry died in l775. He names sons Robert, Hugh, and Samuel as legatees in his l775 will. Hyde Co. is just below the Virginia line on coastal NC. Does anyone have info on these Henry folks? The older Hugh (Militia Hugh) died and left a will in l790. He had sons Robert, John, and Samuel. I don't know where all these Henry folks migrated to. Lots of Luck to all in your research......Gladys Henry (Henries) Shelton
