Sept. 7, 1927 Mrs. Esther Henry Robert Riley returned from Owensboro Wednesday morning where he attended the funeral of his grandmother, Mrs. Esther Smith Henry of Irvington, who was taken back to her old home on the Hartford Road several miles from Owensboro. The service was conducted at the Green Briar Church, Tuesday at 1:30 o'clock by the Rev. John Bennett and the burial was held in the church cemetery. Mrs. Riley [sic] had lived in this community all of her life some 10 years past when she came to Breckinridge county to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. J. F. Riley where she had since lived. She has been an invalid for nine years from creeping paralysis which finally caused her death. She had suffered greatly and for the past year her death had been daily expected by those who best knew of her condition. Mrs. Henry was 73 years of age and was survived by seven children, Mrs. Minnie H. Riley of Owensboro, Mrs. J. F. Riley of Irvington, Mrs. Ren Salmon of Detroit, Mrs. R. L. Purcell of Utica, and three sons, E. K. Henry of Hartford, D. H. Henry of Los Cruses, New Mexico, and James S. Henry of Douglas, Wyo. There are 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, one of whom is Mrs. Betty Sue Riley of this city. Mrs. Henry was a devoted Christian woman who was loved by a large number of relatives and friends.
