There was the one given by the parents, then a Saint's name given at Baptism, and then another 'middle' name taken at time of Confirmation. Per census reports, etc. a grandfather was named William, Enough for census taker. Didn't need it that he was baptized Joseph, confirmed as David. Usually the 1st middle name was used when mama was mad, as Come Here William Joseph, to make sure she got HER own William. At time of marriage my husband's confirmation name was included by the Priest, as in "Do you, William Joseph David, take.." Enough of that. Madora
