    1. DNA Project
    2. Doris Parton & ALL, I've seen your numerous postings on the DumplinTN list lately in regards to the Henry DNA project. Doris, I know your not related to any Henry?s and think it?s great you have the time and have taken on the task of Henry DNA Project Administrator. I'm sure all the Henry's would be interested in the progress and not just the DumplinTN list. There are numerous Henry's that never heard of the DumplinTN list, let alone subscribe to it. The DNA Project is open to all Henry's and the focus should not be just 3 counties your interested in. By having the discussions on the Henry list instead of the Dumplin list or both, might even encourage more involvement from additional Henry's. I?m sure they are others besides myself who would be very interested in seeing results of Alexander Henry the patriarch of ?The Patrick Henry? line. Through my over 30 years of research, through my documentation there are at least 2 possible 3 different Henry lines in Blount Co., TN and one connects into ?The Patrick Henry? line as well as one in Rhea Co., TN, Memphis, MS and NC. With individual's migrating it's hard to say whose connected. There is also Hendry lines that changed their names to Henry. I have an ancestor from a different line who went from VA to PA, back to VA to NC and finally ended up in TN. I'm quite sure I may have located another son who fought in the Rev. War. This only adds to my theory he was married more than once, I've never thought he waited till he was in his 40's to marry for the 1st time. I have another family line I've been working on that was from CT, one son migrated to VA. These individuals where prior to the Rev. War and records are scant. Now as far as my Henry's from Jones Cove, Sevier Co., TN, I contacted my cousin Marvin to do the DNA study and he graciously consented, so I put Doris Price & him in contact with each other. Since my uncle Harvey ?O'Dell? left TN as a young man, married and raised his family out west, you won't locate his family in TN. There is NO DOUBT as to whether Marvin is from the Henry's from Jones Cove or not HE IS the grandson of George Washington Henry who was my grandfather also. I don't know why my grandfather's draft card started he was married to Ruby Hernes, my father & aunt both stated her name was Ruby Hall, I have copies of their marriage license and the funeral home records for her burial. That's my DOCUMENTATION. George m. Nora Victoria Matthews first, she was Marvin's and my grandmother, George is buried next to her in Jones Cove. I remember his funeral well, I was there. His D.O.D. is correct per the "Shadows of the Smokies' book. He NEVER MARRIED a Susan Ogle. Susannah "Susie" Ogle was his father?s Russell Jones Henry's 1st wife. Russell is buried between his 2 wives. I have been at the cemetery numerous times since I was a child. Susannah is listed on the 1850 Sevier Co., TN Census as SUSANNAH by her parents. Millie M. Lewis was Russell's 2nd wife and our ggrandmother. Her name was NOT MALINDA as you have stated. I HAVE HER ORGINAL DEATH CERTIFICATE, MARRIAGE RECORDS AND CHURCH RECORDS. I have gone over and over these DOCUMENTED records with numerous people over the years. One individual stated, ?She THOUGHT that?s what her name was?, she never made corrections to what she posted on the Internet. Millie had 5 (FIVE) living children with her husband Joel Dennis not the 7 you have stated. This comes from my father, aunt, cousins and documentation. I have no idea where you are getting you information from but it?s unrelible, I suggest you check your facts. Over the years, I have graciously given documentation to various cousins on my Henry line which included DOCUMENTATION on Russell's siblings (some left Sevier County, TN never to return). For some unknown reason the documentation WAS CHANGED! Since individual's are not interested in the quality of their compiled work, I've found it impossible to get them to make corrections. Doris Price was with me last year when I asked Sam Maner (the Sevier County Historian) to make CORRECTIONS ON THE LIBRARY PAGE FOR MY HENRY LINE, HE REFUSED. As far as William Henry Sr. being born in Berkeley County, Virginia verses Frederick County, Virginia as you have stated. Yes, Berkeley County was formed from Frederick County, Virginia, in 1772. It?s also another area to look for documentation. My Certified copy from the Washignton Archieves of his Rev. War Pension application states Berkeley Co., VA. His brother John Henry who settled in the adjoining county of Cocke also states he was born in Berkeley Co., VA per my copy of his Rev. War Pension. It?s very apparent both knew of the change of the county borders when they submitted their pension applications, they swore under oath it was Berkeley County. This was accepted by the US Government. Whatever the reason, I really don't care, I am going by my 173 year old DOCUMENT. I'm just glad they did state Berkeley since it narrowed my research area. Since I have documented William & John Henry?s parents, I?m looking for documentation on their grandparents. I have my theory on w! ho they where, but the DNA would clinch it. In fact it would be of a lot of value for connecting numerous lines for everyone. Patti
