This is the line for Marvin Henry: Marvin Henry Harvey Odell Henry 1908-1990 (I didn't actually find Harvey and Marvin yet, but I assume that he gave that information correctly. I need to find George Washington Henry in 1910. I think that I tried last night and didn't find them yet. I'll relook in Cocke, Sevier, etc. George Washington Henry 1882-1952 I have the information off his World War I draft card. born May 4, 1882, Sevier Co. TN, white, occupation carpenter, place of work Chilhowee Extract Co. Newport, TN, address when signing his draft card was Newport, TN. Wife Ruby Hernes. (Is that spelled correctly?)According to the draft registration card, he had a medium build, blue eyes, and dark hair. The death date in the book In the Shadow of the Smokies for him is an error. This death date is all over the Internet! His first wife Susan (Susie) Ogle died in April 1880 from typhoid fever. She is on the1880 mortality list as Susan Henry, married. This is the date given erroneously for his death! He married second in late 1880 to a widow, Malinda "Millie" Lewis Dennis. She had already had seven children and then had 3 by Russell Jones Henry. She is on the 1900 census in Sevier Co.TN as a widow again. She owned her own home and farm free and clear. Russell Jones Henry was born 7 Jul 1836, and he died between the conception of his daughter Lillie M. who was born May 1890 and the 1900 census. Russell Jones Henry was the son of William Henry, Jr. and Sally Jones (Sally b NC according to Russell on census) Then William Henry of the Revolutionary War and his wife Elizabeth Jones whom he married in Botetourt Co. VA. William put in his pension that he was born in Berkeley Co. VA, but it was not yet Berkeley when he was born. It hadn't been created yet. He then moved to Botetourt Co. VA and later to Jones Cove, Sevier Co., TN. Berkeley County is the second oldest county in West Virginia and was created (while part of the state of Virginia) in 1772 from the northern third of Frederick County, Virginia. This is now Berkeley Co. WV. So William Henry was actually born in Frederick Co. VA, in what is now Berkeley Co. WV. Is this the cousin, Doris? It?s very apparent both knew of the change of the county borders when they submitted their pension applications, they swore under oath it was Berkeley County. This was accepted by the US Government. Whatever the reason, I really don't care, I am going by my 173 year old DOCUMENT. I'm just glad they did state Berkeley since it narrowed my research area. Patti, You are correct. The "he" that I was talking about was Russell Jones Henry and not George Washington Henry whom I had been discussing in the previous paragraph. I knew what I was talking about. I just didn't communicate it very well, but when I said that his first wife Susie Ogle Henry died in 1880, I believe you would have known that I was discussing Russell Jones Henry and not his son.
