Hi List, My Francis Henry Family of Poland, OH is located a bit further west than the one in this message. The father of my Francis Henry was supposed to be also Francis Henry, b 1754 in the "Winchester" district of Virginia. I believe that this district included what is now Washington Co., PA, and an equal amount of land in what is now WV. I am wondering if a person who answered the 1880 census that his father was born 1840 in VA was really saying WV or if in the northern half, Washington Co., PA. I have come across a few HENRY census records that indicate parents being born in VA -- no wonder every Henry thinks that they are a descendant of the Patrick Henry! I think it often means from Washington Co., PA. I think that this area was central to the Scots/Irish, most Presbyterians, very many being soldiers, and some being early industrialists, who came to PA in early 1700's. I am trying to find collateral lines to Francis Henry of Poland, Ohio, like James Reed, and I am trying to follow these back to early PA. I have a file on rootsweb called "henrymac" Does anyone have an historical map of the "Winchester District?" Who keeps the records from the early days when the area was called Winchester? imrslieutenant@hotmail.com wrote: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Pa. area. We are trying to find out his family tree prior to what we have. My husband's father is David Carroll Henry, son of Theodore Brown and Mabel Edna Carr Henry. Theodore is the son of John B. F. & "Jennie" Nancy Blose Henry. From There, we're not sure. The Henry family is buried in the Churchyard of Congruity Presbyterian Church, New Alexandria PA. Somewhere in this line is a Henry and Lavina Henry. Henry Henry died 3 Dec. 1889, and is buried at Congruity as well. From there I'm at a loss. We live in WV, and are going to try to make another trip to PA this year, just to trace this down as far as we can. I just was wanting to see if anyone has this same line and could help me. John B.F. Henry had a large number of children, most of which are buried at Congruity as well. I have their names and dates, but I am looking to go further back. Please e-mail me if you can help any at all.
