Doris, Finally, a Henry DNA study! Thank you for taking on the role of administrator of this study. My Henry study group has a couple of male descendants that I think will be interested. While we are particularly interested in the pre-Revolutionary War Henrys of NC, just as you are in those of East TN, I think it is a mistake to start the DNA project by narrowly defining objectives. Certainly, any participant is hoping to resolve questions about his particular line, but you never know where those answers are going to come from. For any DNA project to be successful, it is important that as many as possible participate. Once a critical mass of participants has been achieved, then the data will group the various lines. It may well be that my pre-Revolutionary War William Henry of PA and Tryon Co., NC will connect to your East TN Henrys. From my own experience with the Strong DNA study, I would discourage use of the 12 marker test. That test often shows relationships that are then disproved by the 25 marker test. I presume the 37 marker test, which was introduced after I participated in the Strong DNA study, would be the preferred test, but it's not cheap. For most, the 25 marker test would seem adequate to establish DNA profiles for various lines. One can always upgrade to the 37 marker test if it appears that would be helpful. Good luck with the study. I hope you keep us all apprised of your progress by posting the DNA data to a website. Robert Strong
