I was trying not to take on all Henrys just from the expected scope of the project. I started out with three counties and it's growing. I was probably wrong to try to limit it. If you think that if your Henrys seem to have come from VA to NC or from PA, DE, NY, NJ, etc. to NC then we could possibly join. Feel free to join. In fact, anyone may feel free to join. For the Henry male joining I need a breakdown starting with him and each male back to the farthest ancestor. Generation 1: Generation 2: Generation 3: etc. Please do have a Henry male in your line join. ----- Original Message ----- From: Dee777@aol.com To: List@henry.descendants.us Cc: tenntree@direcway.com Sent: Wednesday, February 09, 2005 2:59 PM Subject: Re: Fw: [HENRY] DNA project please join Question: Why are the Henrys from NC and SC being left out? We are equally Henrys. The famous Robert Henry of Kings Mountain battle, was the son of our Thomas Henry . We are of the Joseph line through Thomas Henry, so we have the same line upward from there. Many of the NC and SC Henry's are said to come from PA and VA. Thomas Henry b. 1719 ...... death 27 Sep. 1787 Gaston County North Carolina ... I believe "my" group came through PA (or other areas in the North East) before that. I am primarily interested in Henrys who had Henry ancestors here before the Rev. War. You made read the description of the project at the site below. If you do join, please send me your direct descent from your furthest proven ancestor to you. Please do not put an ancestor because grandma, great-grandma or anyone else "said so." Please do not mention that you were told that you were related to Patrick Henry (almost all Henrys coming out of the South have that legend.) Please do not put "information" from the John J. Henry database on Alexander Henry down to East TN Henrys as that is invented. Just go back to your furthest proven Henry ancestor. The DNA will help us sort from there into closer groups in which we can share information, research, and hone in on the truth!! | Those of German and Jewish or other descent may join as you desire. I don't see why these can't all be sorted at once! I would love Henry males who had Henry ancestors in PA, NJ, DE, NY, etc. before the Rev. Doris, Thank you for expanding the scope of the Henry DNA study. I think the study will benefit from the broadest possible participation. Might I suggest that you change the description of the project at http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=J74296&special=true to reflect the expanded scope? As it reads now, I think that it would discourage participation from any Henry descendant who knows of no connection to East Tennessee. I don't think you need to worry about being overwhelmed by participants. In my experience, the greater problem is coming up with enough participants for the data to be meaningful.
