    3. The first three test results for the Henry project are in. These dealt with members of two different Henry families who lived only a few miles apart on a small creek that runs through Jefferson Co. and into Sevier Co. TN, Dumplin Creek. We knew from research that the two groups could not join until at least about 1700 if at all. The DNA evidence showed there was 0% possibility that there was a common ancestor between the two groups in at least 600 years. There is a calculator into which I then plugged the research that we knew they didn't join until 1700, and the 0% probability that there was a common ancestor between the two groups jumped to 800 yrs! One group descends from Samuel Henry ( see http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/HENRY/1999-03/0922411563 ). The other group descends from Henry Henry (see http://genforum.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?Parton::henry::5121.html ) A correction to this is that although son John was in the Rev. War, none of this family was at Kings Mountain. The Samuel Henry group came out with a Western European haplotype. I believe this matches their Scots or Ulster Scots legend. The Henry Henry group has a legend of the immigrant coming over as a cooper on a ship from Ireland. The Henry Henry group has a Nordic haplotype which is not just Norway, Sweden, Finland, but also shared by the vast majority of the native Irish. I foolishly first labeled my project with the empahasis on the Henry families who came to East TN. I cannot change the wording on that. The site won't let me, but I welcome and encourage all Henrys of all ethnic groups, states, countries, to join the project. We have four more kits in and at the labs. The Henry Project Website with results: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/HenryEastTNVAPAetc/ Unique Y-DNA12 marker strings: 2 Result Strings Count 13 24 14 11 11 14 12 12 12 13 13 29 2 R1b haplotype 15 24 15 10 15 16 11 13 11 13 12 29 1 I haplotype The last column means that two people had that string, and one had the second sring. To join the Henry Project: Go to http://wwww.familytreedna.com Go to box on top right and type in Henry. Three projects show up. Go to the Henry one which is the first one. I would put in the direct link, but it is a hundred miles long, full of weird characters that would be hard to type in! Administrator: Doris Noland Parton tenntree@direcway.com
