I would like a copy of the article also. My John Henry lived in Crawford Co., Pennsylvania but was born in another country. I don't know where. One relative tells me that our Henry name used to be Henrich but another one says our John Henry came from Scotland. No one has proof of a thing though. It is just family lore so far. Thanks for your message. It only deepens the mystery doesn't it? Was your John Henry a Civil War vet? Do you suppose there is a veterans organization that cares for all Henry veterans? I don't know if Abram had siblings. His parents were Samuel and Susanna Kniseley Henry and he was born in Crawford County Ohio. Most of this was taken from items in the library in Hicksville where the librarian has wonderful obit files. Do your Henry's have any similar history? I look forward to hearing from you again. The Washington Post, January 25, 1896, pg. 12 HER COACHMAN SAVED HER. Mrs. Henry's Carriage Crushed Between a Cart and a Street Car. A handsome carriage in which Mrs. C. L. Henry, of 1817 Sixteenth street, wife of the Indiana Congressman, was riding, was crushed to pieces between a Metropolitan horse car and a heavily-loaded cart at Fourteenth street and New York avenue, about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Henry was thrown out, but was not injured, owing to the quickness with which her driver, James Butler, sprang out and caught the horse, which was inclined to be fractious. The accident appeared to have been unavoidable. The street is torn up at that corner, and several carriages and vehicles were bunched at the junction of two street car lines. The wood cart stopped in front of Mrs. Henry's carriage, and the driver of the horse car was unable to keep it from slipping because of the wet tracks. Three of the wheels of the carriage were broken to pieces. ==== DC-OLD-NEWS Mailing List ==== District of Columbia Newspapers http://www.NewspaperAbstracts.com/district/ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ County and State Coordinators are needed. http://www.newspaperabstracts.com/siteinfo/volunteer.shtml ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ To unsubscribe from this list send an email to: DC-Old-News-L-request@rootsweb.com with only the word unsubscribe in the subject line Replace the -L- with -D- if you are receiving mail in digest mode. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ To receive a listing of all maillists at Rootsweb in which you are subscribed, see: http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ============================== You can manage your RootsWeb-Review subscription from http://newsletters.rootsweb.com/
