I have no birth date for John Craig. Margaret Henry was the daughter of Robert Henry, weaver and Mary Henry (no maiden name given on Margaret's death certificate). They had a number of children, Robert b1822, John b1825, Mary b1827, Margaret b1829, Janet b. 1833, Elizabeth b1835, James b1838 and Marian, no birth year available. All birth years taken from Margaret's death certificate. All were born in Paisley. The family appeared to have emigrated to Australia in about 1839, although I am not sure of how many of them came together. I am seeking any information on the family and particularly the ancestors of Margaret Henry and John Craig.

Louise, I spent the day at the archives, and I think you have some wrong information. Isaac Henry of Savannah was married to Cecelia Louisa Cessar/Ceasar. Their son was Wesley William and he was married to Minnie Ruth. He was never married to Eliza Miller, your John Henry was. Isaac and Cecelia never had a son named John. I think you have to go back and redo some of your research, because the Isaac Henry of Savannah that was married to Cecelia is not your ancestor. I have checked all the documentation and I have checked with his descendents. Susan Marshall

William Henry was born in Ohio about 1867 to Enoch and Melissa Ann Bettes Henry. Enoch (his father) died when he was only 8 years old. Unlike the younger children who continued to reside with their mother and new step-father, William ended up, at the ripe old age of twelve, living in another county close to his Grandfather (with a Dill family) working on their farm. He went on to marry twice. I don't know which wife was the first or which one was second (Lydia or Lizzie) but my Grandmother thought he first married a woman named Lydia and they had a daughter named Eleanor (probably born about 1890). He was divorced from Eleanor's mother and raised his daughter alone until he remarried a second time. I believe it was Lizzie (possibly Elizabeth). He eventually moved to Tennessee and was murdered by his son-in-law in Tennessee. Does anyone know anything about this family?

For those of you looking in Greene County, TN., we've started to collect the surname HENRY out of documents and things in Greene County on our web page: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hendrycousins We have three cemeteries that have been surveyed with all names listed, not just HENRY/HENDRY. Mt. Siani (Mosheim), Old Carter Family Cemetery (Romeo) and Sulphur Springs (Morrison's-close to Locust Springs) We also have wills of HENRYS and HENDRYS up. It might be interesting to see some of the settlements. W.B. Hendry's estate was settled by W.S. McCollum. There are a few allied names that go with both surnames-HENRY and HENDRY. I'll be more than happy to continue to collect data, but if anyone has a will, settlement or whatever to contribute, I sure would appreciate a copy. Making copies for the two surnames in Greene County is costing a bundle. <g> But the good news is that the more we find, the more we might be able to make those lost connections between the two families. Lots of my family are called HENRY in census data and in the newspapers. So, I would really like to get them all put where they belong. Here's to the hunt in Greene County! <g> Renaee

Your Mary is there, she was called "Polly" and she married David Robertson Jr and had 9 children. I don't have time to do much right now, working on taxes, but our John Henry Sr came to America before the Revolutionary War with a wife and child. He married 4 times and had 14 children. My husbands side of this family came to Missouri and the book is called "The Cave Spring Henrys" and written by Benita Ruth Shields. She did one earlier and this one was redone in 1994. I don't know where you can get it, but I promise I will do some research on that a bit later, and anything else I can help you with. You can E-mail me at [email protected] Till later, June

Does this sound like the Henr family in the book you mentioned?
