Subject: !!!NEW UPDATE - IGI Search Facility now includes USA!!! Dear Listers - I am so pleased to be able to announce this news. An incredible thing has happened for those searching for kindred connections in the USA. Our terrifically wonderful Hugh Wallis has done it again!!! Yes, you can now search the IGI by town, county and state with only a surname... What was done for the UK has graciously been extended to US records by harnessing the information so lovingly put together by the LDS. Use this new search feature here: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm Hugh, we salute you! Your philanthropic work is a gift we appreciate. Best wishes to all, Dawn Perry-Taft Central Coast, CA -------------------------- Received this e-mail from Hugh today- From: "Hugh Wallis" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> <<OK - your wish is my command <My first lot of North American numbers are up on the site - you can <get to them from the same page as before - http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm <- there will be more to come if folks can tell me what ranges to look <in!! <Please pass the word around <All the very best <Hugh Wallis <Ontario, Canada <Formerly of Surrey, UK>> ------------------------------------ <<Dear Hugh, <As I am quite sure you know, all of the Rootsweb mailings lists are <quite atwitter with your grand performance on putting together this <new IGI search facility for the UK. He married, in 1792, Keziah Maxwell, daughter of The Rev. Thomas J. Maxwell, Jr., and Mary Pemberton. She was born 11 Jan 1766 also in Virginia. Benson was the father of Benjamin Henry, who was the father of Dr. John Benson Henry (Confederate Army Medical Officer), who was the father of John Abner Henry, who was the father of Mary Belle Henry, my great-grandmother on my mother's mother's side. As best as I can establish, Benson Henry is the son of William Henry and Jemima Thomason Benson. But the records are _very_ confused on this point. Question: I believe that Benson Henry's father, presumably this same William Henry, is either a brother or a nephew of Governor Patrick ("Liberty or Death") Henry. But the trail is severely tangled, and I have seen contradictory information on this point, _especially_ on WorldConnect/AWT.

I have been researching, or trying to research, William HENRY and his wife, Dovie or Dovia (nee) ? Both were born in WVA somewhere and were located in Gallipolis, Gallia Co., Ohio in the 1900 census. Nothing more is found. I have just received some HENRY data which may be helpful to another researcher: The DIUGUID family were French Huguenots, who, because of the Edict of Nantes, fled to Scotland. Here comes the HENRY part: On October 10, 1716, William Diuguid, Sr. married Jean HENRY in Aberdeen, Scotland. Her parents were Alexander Henry and Jean Robertson. The wife's two brothers were Colonel John and Reverend Patrick Henry, of Hanover Co., VA. The statesman, Patrick Henry of VA was her nephew. Although this has not advanced my search for William and Dovie HENRY, I hope that someone else may find this helpful. Well, I also hope someone will know something of my missing persons. Alice in FL
I am looking for a Robert Henry that married a Charity Thompson in 1731. [email protected]
I think there are too many Roberts. I am also looking for a Robert Henry, my ggrandfather, born about 1825 either in the Philadelphia area or in Union Co. He may have had a brother Isaiha Henry living in the Mifflinburg, PA area. Robert married Elizabeth Werick and had at least one son, William Robert Henry. Any info on this Robert would surely be appreciated. Ann
How exciting to see all the Henry interest on the web. I, too, have a Robert Henry here in NC history. My gggrandfather, Robert L. Henry was born in Hyde Co.NC on Sept. 26, l8l6. He moved to Goose Creek Island (Beaufort Co. ...now Pamlico) with his father Israel Henry (b. Apr. l784) and his mother Sarah "Sally" Hopkins, around l836. They were in the l840 census of Goose Creek Island. It is assumed, but I can not find proof, that Israel's father was Samuel Henry (born before l755 as he was over 45 in the l800 census) who appeared briefly on Goose Creek Island in l800. If so, Samuel was the son of Robert Henry who first appeared on record as a member of the Hyde Co. Militia in l755 along with a Hugh Henry (brother or son?) The elder Robert Henry died in l775. He names sons Robert, Hugh, and Samuel as legatees in his l775 will. Hyde Co. is just below the Virginia line on coastal NC. Does anyone have info on these Henry folks? The older Hugh (Militia Hugh) died and left a will in l790. He had sons Robert, John, and Samuel. I don't know where all these Henry folks migrated to. Lots of Luck to all in your research......Gladys Henry (Henries) Shelton
