I am going to try and post this again. If I have posted twice I am sorry. My first message seemed to not go through. I am not a descendant of the West family that I know of. I am sort of interested in them because they tie into my Westbrook family. In the Westbrook family, inter-marriage seems to go on for generations, so....... Anyway, I have found an Elijah West who was the administrator of the estate of Henry West of Sangamon County Illinois in 1834. I don't know if Elijah is a son or brother. Henry's wife Mary declined being executor and Elijah was made executor. I don't know which Elijah this is, as there seems to be an abundance of them in Sangamon County. I think that you need to maybe check Morgan County Illinois and Davidson County Tennessee. I think Henry had a daughter Rachel that married Joseph Smith. In the probate package of Henry West, there is a statement made by Ridley R. Westbrook that he heard both Henry and his wife say that a loom and tackle belonged to Rachel Smith, both before and after her marriage to Joseph Smith. Anyway, a Rachel West married Joseph Smith 1829 in Morgan County Illinois. Ridley R. Westbrook married Susannah West in Williamson County Tennesse in 1825 and Samuel Westbrook married Lidia West in Davidson County Tennessee in 1814. Samuel Westbrook named some of his children with names that would seem to come from the West family: Mary J., Elizabeth N., Elijah T., Henry T.,Rachel J., Sarah H., and George Washington. The only one I am unsure of is Henry T.I think he was a son too, and he was executor, but he wasn't left any money. Samuel Westbrook was a bondsman for the estate of Henry West. You can see that there is evidently a connection between the Westbrook family and Henry West, and there is a connection between Henry West and Elijah West. A Daniel West swore to the fact that Mary West declined being executor in favor of Elijah West. I would guess that Elijah, Rachel, Daniel, Lidia, and Susannah might be children of Henry West. How do I fit into this? I think my ancestor Deberryman Westbrook, was a brother of Samuel and Ridley R. Westbrook. He even named a son Ridley R. Westbrook. I have even considered the possibility that Ridley R. could be Deberryman's father, but that would mean Ridley had to have a previous marriage. My Deberryman was a bondsman on the estate of Samuel Westbrook. The Wests and Westbrooks are reallly intwined.
