I have discovered several Henderson families who settled in or around Chautauqua County, Kansas besides my own and am trying to trace any connection to them. Family lore clames, Atwill or Atwell as bing the Henderson killed in Mexico during the war, but in my research have not found such. So, I am searching other possables. I have traced the ones I know to IND. NARA claims no record to my inquiries. See following for a possable..... A. HENDERSON / William HENDERSON (b. abt. 1815, d.abt. 1847) and wife Mary FOREMAN Henderson (b. 1817, d. 1891) lived around Beaufort County, NC, c. 1840-1849. They had two sons born to them while in Beaufort County, NC - Atwill Henderson (b. 8/28/1844) and Russell HENDERSON (b. 5/26/1846). Family story is that A. Henderson died while serving in the U.S. military during the Mexican War of 1846-1848. Listed as dead is, William HENDERSON , First Brigade of Regulars, Company D, 2nd Artillery who died 10/6/1847 in Mexico and listed in the book, “Known Military Dead During the Mexican War 1846-1848, by Peterson is A. HENDERSON, First Brigade of Regulars, Company D, 2nd Artillery who died 10/6/1847 in Mexico. I have sent several inquiries to the National Archives and Records Administration for both Military records and Pension records returning, “Record Not Found”. Am interested in finding information for A. HENDERSON / William HENDERSON and wife Mary FOREMAN Henderson.

    1. [HENDERSON] index????
    2. I am trying an index as I build a web site. What is your preference to have the index alphabetically by first names or last names. I usually do not put last names first, so however it would be first name and then last.
