I'm not certain about this but I believe that it's possible that your George Henderson was "George M.Henderson" who descended from an old Scotch family that originally spelled their name "Hendson". His grandfather was named John and was from Virginia. His grandmother was Rachael Parmann, from a Pennsylvania German family. His grandparents moved from Virginia to east Tennessee where they reared their children and his grandmother died. George's father was named Joseph and was married to Hannah McCoy, daughter of John McCoy of North Carolina. The family left Greene County Tennessee and moved west. This John Henderson died in Platte County, Missouri in 1846. Hi son Joseph and wife Hannah (McCoy) died and are buried in Atchison County, Kansas. According to this, John Henderson, the grandfather, is written of in Hidden Hendersons of Greene and Cocke Counties,Tennessee, by Norma H. Harper of Nashville Tennessee 1979. George M. Henderson is written of in Genealogical and Biographical Record of Northeastern Kansas, Lewis Publishing Company, Chicago 1900, p.296. Clearly this was a different George Henderson than mine but lived in Greene Co, Tn at the same time as mine and perhaps they were related somehow.
